Hunt eastern wild turkeys in south-central Ohio – only 65 miles from Columbus. This is prime turkey habitat consisting of rolling hills, open pastures, crop fields, food plots and mature hardwood ridges. The outfitter has exclusive lease rights to thousands of acres. The Buckeye state may not get the press that some states get but Ohio hunters know that the turkey population has exploded there in the past decade.
Both semi-guided and guided hunts available. On the semi-guided hunt, the outfitter will show boundaries, roost sites and areas where the birds feed and display. On the guided hunt, a guide will accompany the hunter and assist with all aspects of the hunt. Guided hunts are limited and clients must determine at the time of booking whether they are going semi-guided or guided. Guided hunts are available the first two weeks of the season. Unless other arrangements are made, hunters arrive in camp on Saturday and hunt Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Eastern wild turkeys are one of the toughest species to get high harvest rates on. With that said, this outfitter had 15 hunters during the 2010 spring season and 13 of 15 either killed or missed a bird for an 87% opportunity rate! If you are looking for a high-odds eastern wild turkey hunt, we can highly recommend this one.
License are available over the counter and cost is $125 plus $24 for each turkey tag. 2011 dates are April 18 - May 15. Gobblers may be hunted until noon the first two weeks of the season and all day during the second two weeks of the season.
