Hunts are held in western Colorado in December and January. The season runs longer than that but hunting conditions can be very difficult in February and March plus harvest quotas are often hit after January. Mode of transportation is 4×4’s, snowmobiles, and leg work. Hunters may use rifle, pistol, muzzleloader or bow.

Hunters are required to take a mountain lion education and identification course before they will be issued a license. The test can be taken online or at any DOW office. Licenses are over-the-counter and are based on a quota for the areas. Cost is $41 for residents and $351 for non-residents. A $10 habitat stamp is also required.

Many clients bring their spouse or a friend on this hunt. The outfitter’s wife will take wives of hunters on day trips sight seeing. Non-hunting guests can also accompany the hunter during the hunt. Cost for non-hunting guests is $150 / day.

If two hunters book together, they will have 10 days to hunt as a 2×1 hunt.

Airport pick up and drop off can be arranged to either Grand Junction or Montrose airports - cost is $150 for round trip.

Includes meals, lodging, guides and hounds.
