Are you looking for a high country, horseback hunt? Are you a hard-core hunter in good shape and willing to go after the elk? Do you want the assistance of a guide versus being dropped off on your own? If you answered yes to all of the above, this western Colorado hunt may be what you are looking for.

Hunters are expected to help the guides with the cooking duties. Lodging is in tents or a cabin and the use of each can be rotated throughout the hunt. Hunters are packed into camp the day before their hunt starts and packed out the day after the hunt ends.

Hunting is done on both private and public land depending where the elk are during the hunt. This hunt has produced some exceptional bulls in the past.

Archery tags are either-sex and available over-the-counter. Muzzleloader bull tags are via the draw and have been taking 3 preference points to draw. First season bull tags are via the draw but have been 100% draw with no preference points. Second season bull tags are over- the-counter. Due to the altitude and the probability of heavy snowfall, no 3rd or 4th season hunts are held here. Application deadline for the limited licenses is April 1, 2015.

Non-resident license cost is $601 plus a $10 habitat stamp. Anyone born after January 1, 1949 must have a hunter education card to apply - Colorado accepts hunter education cards from other states.

Includes lodging, meals, 2 hunters/guide, field care and packing out of elk.
