Wyoming Elk

Hunt Unit 38 on a private ranch near Sheridan known for large numbers of elk and trophy bulls as well. The elk stay on this property as it has perfect habitat and very little disturbance.

This outfitter takes a very limited of hunters – only two per week in archery season and a max of four per week during rifle season.

Bulls typically score 280-350 with some up to 370. Shot opportunity has been over 90%.

Methods include calling during the rut and spot and stalk.

It is recommended that hunters apply for a preference point ($50) during the July 1 – September 30 period - we can assist with that process.  Draw odds in 2010 for rifle hunters was 75% with no points and 100% with one point. For archers, draw odds were 9% with zero or one point, 67% with two points and 100% with three points. These odds are based on buying the special license.  It is also recommended to allow the outfitter to apply for you in the January elk draw. License cost is $591 for the  regular license and $1071 for the special license plus $12.50 conservation stamp. A hunter’s safety card is required to be carried if born on or after January 1, 1966.
