Wyoming Elk

Hunt one of Wyoming’s best elk units - Unit 38. Hunting is done primarily on a private ranch but the outfitter also has the surrounding USFS land under permit. The ranch has a resident herd and picks up additional elk in the fall.

Bulls typically score 280-320 with some 350+. Shot opportunity has been over 90%.

Methods include calling during the rut and spot and stalk.

It is recommended that hunters apply for a preference point ($52) during the July 1 - September 30 period - we can assist with that process. Draw odds in 2017 for rifle hunters were 80% with five point. For archers, draw odds were 100% with nine points. These odds are based on buying the special license.

It is also recommended to allow us to apply for you in the January elk draw - application period is January 1-31. Draw results are posted in late February. License cost is $692 for the regular license and $1268 for the special license plus $12.50 conservation stamp. A hunter’s safety card is required for rifle hunters if born after January 1, 1966 - not needed for archery hunters. Crossbows are legal to use during archery and firearm season.

A cow elk hunt is also held in November. The main ranch has a lot of elk, too many actually, and an annual cow harvest is necessary. This is a great hunt for hunters looking to fill their freezers. Cost for the cow elk license in this unit is $707 and is 100% draw odds.

Includes meals, lodging, 1 hunter/guide for archery hunts and 2 hunters/guide for gun hunts, Sheridan airport pick-up and drop-off, transportation of meats and mounts to processing plant or taxidermist.
