Booking for December 2013-February 2014.
These folks are so sure that you’ll have a chance at a lion that they offer this guarantee: “If we fail to tree you a legal lion, you will be welcomed back at 1/2 price. If we fail to tree a legal lion on your return trip, you are welcomed back for free.” A legal lion is a male or an adult female without kittens. In 2011, hunters went 7 out of 8 with 6 being toms.
Hunts are held in western Colorado from December through February. Mode of transportation is 4×4’s, snowmobiles, and leg work. Hunters may use rifle, pistol, muzzleloader or bow.
Hunters are required to take a mountain lion education and identification course before they will be issued a license. The test can be taken online or at any DOW office. Licenses are over-the-counter and are based on a quota for the areas. Cost is $41 for residents and $351 for non-residents. A $10 habitat stamp is also required.
Many clients bring their spouse or a friend on this hunt. The outfitter’s wife will take wives of hunters on day trips sight seeing. Non-hunting guests can also accompany the hunter during the hunt. Cost for non-hunting guests is $150 / day.
If two hunters book together, they will have 10 days to hunt as a 2×1 hunt.
