Hunt the Panhandle of Texas for Rio Grande turkeys. If you like the idea of an semi-guided hunt on ranches that have a lot of turkeys, this is a hunt to consider. Over a dozen ranches and 10,000 acres are under lease. The ranches have excellent turkey habitat including roost tress, water, feeders and agricultural fields.
The outfitter meets the hunters prior to the hunt and shows them the ranch and areas where turkeys are normally seen. Hunters often hunt multiple ranches as some are better for morning hunts and others are better for evening hunts.
Many bowhunters have had great success on Rios here as blinds are put out to increase the odds of a close shot. If you are serious about using a bow to harvest a Rio, this is the place to go.
Book early as openings are limited due to a high number of repeat clients. Licenses available over the counter. Spring turkey license cost is $126 and $7 for the upland game bird stamp.
