Hunt the Belle Fourche River drainage in eastern Wyoming where hunters can see a dozen or more bucks in a day. This is an action packed hunt with lots of game and beautiful scenery. An added bonus is that you can use a rifle during the rut. Bow hunts are conducted in mid to late September when the bucks are very predictable in their daily movements.
This outfitter leases a tremendous amount land to spread out pressure. The better bucks score from 120-140 with the top end being 150. Also if a whitetail hunter sees a mule deer that he wants to harvest, he can do that and pay the difference in price between a whitetail hunt and mule deer hunt. Success rate has been 100% for rifle hunters and 95% for bow hunters. I hunted here in 2011, with a group of friends, and the best bucks we took scored between 125 and 150. We saw hundreds of bucks between us - I saw approximately 60 on the 4 day hunt.
Hunting is normally done by driving around the ranches, still hunting or hunting out of elevated shooting boxes or tree stands. In addition to whitetails, hunters can expect to see mule deer, antelope, Merriam’s turkeys and possibly elk. An antelope / whitetail / Merriam’s turkey combo is also available for $4500 for a 5 day hunt.
Lodging is provided in modern cabins. Meals are served in the main lodge. Airport pick-up and drop-off at Gillette, WY or Rapid City, SD is available for a fee.
Application period for deer license is January 1 - March 15. This unit typically runs 100% on draw odds for deer. A hunter’s safety card is required for rifle hunters if born after January 1, 1966 - not needed for archery hunters.
