Even though the “Golden Triangle” of Pike, Adams and Brown Counties receive most of the notoriety, consider that the “Golden Rectangle” consisting of Clark and Edgar Counties produce more trophies per hunter! Looking at the numbers show that the odds of killing a buck that qualifies for the Illinois Big Buck Recognition Program are 1:98 in Pike, Adams and Brown and 1:60 in Clark and Edgar.
2009 was a very good year here as thirty-nine archers took twenty-one bucks scoring 130 or better.
Four lodges are available, which allow a group of four or more hunters to utilize a lodge for themselves, two cooks and guides are provided. Since a limited number of guests are booked each week, the opportunity to harvest a trophy whitetail is expected to continue well into the future. The outfitter owns and leases over 12,000 forested acres. There is a 130 B&C gross minimum harvest requirement with a $500 fine for killing a buck scoring under that.
From camp you will travel to one of the many pre-scouted stand locations. The farms’ terrain varies from almost level to steep-forested draws. Hunters of all ages and physical abilities can be accommodated.
Provided are meals, lodging, 1 guide per 2 hunters, tree stands, towels, bed linens. Meals include continental breakfast, sack lunch and hot dinner.
Archery permit applications are due June 1 to June 30 - 100% draw. Leftover deer permits are available in early August. Cost is $410 for a NR Combo Archery Deer Permit which includes one either-sex tag and one antlerless-only tag, $57.75 for a NR license and $5.50 for habitat stamp.
